♣ J ℜock ♣

I just prepared dinner and started to, or rather, I kept thinking.

Is there any source of music, anything, that holds as much love and pain, as much feeling, as there is in JRock?

Is that why we love it so much, why we cling to it [and/or vice-versa] once we really got into it?

Like hungry children clinging to the hem of their mother's skirts.

Some of us might feel it less, others more.

I guess all of us know that JRock isn't just music. It's so much more.

Need. Love. Pain. Anything.

Is that one answer to a 'why'?

I dont know what it is that makes us go crazy or become addicts. I have had this conversation before with other people. My husband says they must put some subliminal stuff in their music that makes us act like this-hahaha!

XD Subliminal? FANSERVICE!!!!! We're all just pervs, that's the answer XD

I think there is no explanation for it.
Considering me I can say, I never experienced music from somewhere else with so much feelings in it. I mean, When I started listening to J-Rock I didn't understand a single word accepting 'sayounara'. XD
But that was unimportant, because one can feel the meaning of the song.
'Kuchiki no tou' by MUCC was one of those very intensive songs I listened to. The whole album at all. But on the song itself, I lay on the floor of my living room, because that's the place the bass can be felt the best here, and had my eyes closed. And without understanding the words Tatsurou was singing, I started crying, because his voice is so painful.
The song is this painful, it concentrates on guilty and faults and so on. I just felt that.
It was the same about alice nine.'s 'ARMOR RING' even though it's a positive one in my opinion, full of love. But I felt it, before I got the lyrics, only understood the 'I promise to you'.
There are so many songs by Gazette, were I feel this, especially Gazette... Ruki... It's so easy to make me cry, smile and everything while listening to his voice. I know you read 'Addiction' I wrote. It's at least dealing about this, his voice. And showing all the feelings inside me, while listening to him.

So there is nothing that can be said on a logical explanatory way, because this is about feelings.

Yes... most of us don't understand a bit when they start out with Jrock, yet, the music is so strong that it manages us to capture us and hold us without us understanding any of the words through the words themselves.

So there is nothing that can be said on a logical explanatory way, because this is about feelings.

Exactly, ne.

Hai, it's true, ne. Of course Life exceeds it. As does Love.

I was more speaking in ... the context of "in the world of music, is there more". Of course everything portrayed in music has to have its roots somewhere. In life... where else. <3

Jrock... is a reflection of life. (As every piece of music is, I'm agreeing on that) I guess.. at least for me, it's a very good reflection of it, or... of special parts and happenings of life that much of other music categories lack.

It might be due to the Japanese culture that it's so different, or at least, seems so different to me from most of other types of music. They often emphasize other themes, for example. I guess... It just "talks" to me much more than most other music. Or... gets its message conveyed to me much better. And I don't even have to understand every bit of the lyrics.

Hrm.... Was that understandable? XD ^^'

Aaah~ I agree with you on the fact that jrock talks more. XD i find it true. I'm only learning Japanese, and sometimes I find it difficult to understand because of word-play (Kiyoharu's notorious for it, so is Guniw Tools) it just kind of seems to speak out to you, y'know? Whether it makes you cry or makes you feel better.

The closet 'genre' I can think of is c-rock, but, that's more melodic than lyrical wise, since I can't speak very much Chinese at all. ^^;;

Ohh there actually is Crock?
I only ever found Cpop... my best friend once studied chinese, and when I got into Japanese and then Jrock, she strongly wondered if there was something like CRock as well... XD

There's c-rock, you just have to search hard for it. Like, Jay Chou is mostly pop, but he has some really good rock songs. I could upload them for you if you really wanted.

The rock groups mostly come from Taiwan (go figure XD), but they're good.

Oh yeah, a few sample songs, that would be awesome!
*actually has one ballad of Jay Chou* ... accidently xD
